If you specialize deeply in LabVIEW, you may end up tied quite closely to the NI ecosystem. Relevant certifications include the various levels of NI LabVIEW certification. LabVIEW is also widely used in many specialized automation and testing companies, as well as by major players in industries such as automotive and audio, where many testing systems are built on LabVIEW.

If, on top of that, you become highly proficient with NI’s broader toolchain—including TestStand, Measurement Studio, and LabWindows/CVI—you can basically be considered an expert in this field.

But to be safe, relying entirely on the NI ecosystem alone still carries some risk. It’s better to also become proficient in at least one high-level programming language. Going a step further, software systems are only a means to an end: no matter which industry you want to work with, it is also very important to understand the domain knowledge behind testing, as well as the relevant process and engineering requirements.
