DP refers to Siemens' PROFIBUS-DP communication protocol.

PROFIBUS is a fieldbus technology used for data communication and control between workshop-level monitoring systems and field devices in factory automation. It enables distributed digital control and field communication networks from the field device level up to workshop-level monitoring, thus providing a practical solution for integrated factory automation and intelligent field devices. It is divided into three parts:
