[Answer] What Kind of Computer Is Best for an Automation Major?

Recently, our team has been using the Honor MagicBook Pro, a Ryzen-series laptop under Huawei’s Honor brand, and the overall experience has been very good. Its main advantages are as follows: Ryzen laptop CPUs offer excellent value for money, and the Pro series uses high-performance Ryzen processors whose performance is fully comparable to Intel’s. In addition, because Ryzen CPUs come with very capable integrated graphics, they can basically serve as a substitute for a dedicated graphics card in everyday use. While they may not be powerful enough for large-scale gaming or professional graphic design, they are more than sufficient for daily work, including some editing in Photoshop and Premiere Pro.

The MagicBook’s narrow-bezel design is also very well done. Although it has a 15.6-inch screen, the overall body size is close to that of older 14-inch laptops, making it very portable. If you use a Huawei phone, you can also enjoy a range of ecosystem benefits, such as fast file transfers between your phone and laptop, among other conveniences.

Overall, I personally think the MagicBook offers better value, stronger performance, and greater practicality than Huawei’s MateBook line. This may be related to the different target user groups. MateBook may be aimed more at the MacBook Air crowd, while MagicBook is better suited to people who need a machine for serious work.

One thing to keep in mind is that, in order to stay thin and deliver strong performance, the MagicBook does not support later hardware upgrades. So when buying one, I recommend choosing a version with at least 8GB of memory and a larger SSD.
