[Answer] As a Female Majoring in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, I’m Not Sure How I Should Develop My Career?

Personally, I feel that mechanical engineering is not a particularly suitable field for women. This has nothing to do with gender or ability—I’ve also seen many excellent women in the mechanical engineering field. It’s just that after graduating and entering the workforce, jobs in this major are often inseparable from workshops and construction sites, where the working and living conditions can be relatively tough for women. If the job occasionally involves physical labor, women may also face a natural disadvantage.

If you have the opportunity to pursue graduate studies through recommendation, it may be somewhat better to lean more toward automation. However, industry as a whole will still be male-dominated. Considering the personality traits mentioned by the original poster, I have several suggestions:

• After securing graduate admission, lean more toward the design side and pursue design-related work;
• Move more toward informatization and work in internet companies in product design or project management roles;
• If you want to continue focusing on mechanical engineering, try to lean toward advanced manufacturing areas such as 3D printing and join newer, more dynamic organizations.

For most people, artistic interests are best kept as hobbies, since that is an even more difficult path.
