[Answer] Is the meaning of human existence to destroy this world?
Humanity does not currently have the ability to destroy this world. Even if one day humans were to devastate Earth’s ecosystem, the result would only be our own extinction. As for whether the planet could restore its ecology over a longer period of time, that may depend on the extent of human destruction and is hard to say. But no matter what, that level of damage would still be far from destroying the entire world.
Returning to the more fundamental question: the increase of entropy is an irreversible process, and so the universe will ultimately move toward chaos and disorder. In the end, humanity is nothing more than a brief, fleeting link in that long process.
