Make an effort to be yourself. Very often, in order to become more popular online, we create a "persona" for ourselves and present ourselves in ways that cater to what the other person wants. But that kind of setup is usually hard to sustain—because it is not who you really are.

I think the basic rules of human interaction in the real world should apply in the online world as well. If you want someone to develop a genuine interest in you, then you should do even more to show your real self, so that others can see the qualities in you that are truly worth noticing. Personally, I believe that this is the foundation for earning real interest and attention.
