[Response] Because of the major I chose, there are many arrogant and conceited people around me. To me they seem very strange—frankly, more like lunatics. How can I adapt to and accept them?

Interpersonal relationships are like a mirror: what we are like often determines what kind of world we see. If we have no way to change the world (to any significant degree) or other people’s state, then to a large extent it may be more effective to choose acceptance or adjust our own state.

For example:

Why do we feel that other people are conceited? In what ways has their conceit actually harmed us? If someone else’s arrogance has no direct relationship to us, why can’t we simply ignore it?
