From a value-for-money perspective, I would recommend students choose ASUS or Acer. In terms of user experience, both brands are professional laptop manufacturers, with solid design and performance, while generally being more affordable.

If you have any drafting or design-related needs, it’s best to choose a laptop with a dedicated graphics card, although that can be hard to find in thin-and-light models. Alternatively, try to choose a newer processor, such as an 8th-generation Intel i5, or better yet, an i7. An SSD and a larger amount of memory (8GB or 16GB) are also very helpful for improving performance.

I recently tried Huawei’s MateBook, and the experience was pretty good. Honor’s MagicBook, also under Huawei, can be considered as an alternative as well.
