Sure enough, once you reach a certain stage in life, the way you look at things really changes. When I first saw this question, I honestly couldn’t understand it at all... Why would the girl “hit the child”? Was it to discipline the child? That wouldn’t be good, right? It would be better just to teach the child and reason with them. Whose child was it? And why would the boyfriend need to contribute financially? Because the child was injured from being hit? And how did this suddenly become about whether he loves her or not?

After reading the answers below, I finally realized that my mind had gone off in a completely different direction... Probably because I spend all day thinking about child education issues, so I was totally on a different wavelength.

Back to the question itself: if you’ve gone through something like this and can learn a lesson from it, that is an important lesson in life. At the very least, it is better than only discovering after marriage and having children that the other person is not someone you can entrust your life to.
